Swim team information (Prior seasons for reference only - no 2021 team).
Cost. $150 for the full summer (May 20 - July18). Falling Shoals HOA member rate is $75
Ages. Kids between the ages of 5 and 18 as of June 1, 2019 are eligible.
Minimum Skills Needed. Children should be able to swim at least 10 yards on the surface of the water. To compete in meets, children will be asked to swim the full length of a pool (25 yards) without assistance. We aim to get our newest swimmers to this point! Learning is what summer swimming is all about.
Focus. Our goal is to teach our swimmers correct stroke technique from the beginning. The focus for our newer swimmers is initially on freestyle and backstroke and will move to butterfly and breast-stroke as the season progresses and swimmers gain strength. The focus for our older or more advanced swimmers, technique will start on all four strokes as early in the season as possible. Practices include both technique work and conditioning.
Practice Times. Practices are offer Monday - Friday from 8 - 9 (younger kids) and 8:30 - 10 (older or more advanced swimmers). When schedules permit, we recommend that younger children (10 and under) try to make at least three practices per week and older children try to make at least four per week. The more the better! However, the final number depends on the child and the family.

Equipment Needed for Practice.
- Swim suits. All swimmers are asked to practice in competitive-style suits. For girls, this is a tank suit or an athletic style two-piece suit. For boys, this can be 'jammers', square-leg, or Speedo-style suits (they need to be relatively tight-fitting to avoid excess drag in the water). Coach Sean can provide examples of suits that work best. Please ask if you have questions.
- Goggles. Goggles are absolutely necessary. It is impossible to relax in the water and swim efficiently with stinging eyes. We will have goggles for sale at the beginning of the season for a reasonable price. Local stores including Academy Sports and Dick's also have a good selection.
- All other training equipment will be provided at the pool. If you would like to purchase fins, kick board, or other equipment specifically for your child, let Sean know and we can place an order.
- Having the proper suit and gear makes a big difference in learning proper stroke and swimming technique.
